The Most Successful Experts I Know are Doing These Two Things
What got you here won’t get you there.
There’s a nutritionist I follow on Instagram who’s seemingly doing everything right.
She’s grown her audience to 15K+, posted consistently for years, built a resource-packed website, and shows up constantly.
She’s experienced. She cares about her clients. And she clearly works hard.
But as her business grows, it seems like her strategy hasn’t changed:
More newsletters.
More platforms.
More effort.
And here’s the truth most experts hit at this stage:
What got you here won’t get you there.
If your goal is to publish a cookbook, raise your prices, or become a though-leader online, more won’t get you there.
When you’re ready to move into the next season of your business, it’s time to refine.
The 2 Things I See Successful Experts Doing Right Now
The experts building premium, respected, in-demand brands aren’t doing more.
They’re refining what works and letting go of the rest. Here are the two areas that shows up:
1️⃣ A clear message
They can explain what they do in one sentence.
All their content has one through-line and their offers make sense together.
They’re known for something specific… not “a lot of helpful things.”
🍝 They’ve stopped throwing spaghetti at the wall and chosen their signature dish.
For example: Caroline Chambers has built her entire brand around one simple idea: “Here’s what to cook when you don’t feel like cooking.”
Her cookbook, Substack and Instagram content all support this idea.
2️⃣ A cohesive visual identity
The second thing I see successful brands doing is showcasing their level of expertise with premium branding.
Their fonts, color palette and website don’t look immature or pieced together and they’re consistent on every platform.
Your brand’s appearance is what signals trust, professionalism, and price point, before you ever speak.
For example: When I worked with The Pin Bar, I built her entire brand’s look and feel around the idea of being a “vacation from marketing.”
Her fonts, colors, and messaging all support this idea while looking professional and cohesive. See for yourself with the link below:
The takeaway? If you know you’re experienced, but feel stuck. It’s likely not an effort problem.
It’s a refinement opportunity.
